I’m going to speak out! I’m going to come across as a total bitch, but hey, it’s about time someone in this community speaks out.

What am I talking about? Elitists. You know the elitist bitches from the web design community? The ones that have this huge following that’ll rip your head off if you so much as make something similar to the designer they admire? It’s basically like that, only now it’s in the blogging community. It sickens me! Everything on the goddamn internet has to be competitive for some people. No one cares if you’re popular or not. No one cares how many comments you get or how many people visit your site.

Honestly, you could get a ton of hits to your site, have a ton of comments on your entries and if I found you absolutely boring I still wouldn’t like you. This whole bitch rant of mine started out as a rant last night on MSN, giving into my sister’s all-mighty wisdom (”If you hate someone/something just say it!”) I’ve decided to post this. I don’t care if I come off as a bitch or not, it’s the truth, and it really needs to be said.

One thing that’s becoming increasingly noticeable is that an elitist can copy someone else, and their following is always all “OMG THAT’S SUCH A GREAT IDEA.” People like that piss me off. It’s really stupid when you can’t even be creative for yourself anymore. There are some bloggers that annoy me to new heights because they’re uncreative and try to come off as the most creative person ever. The part about this that’s even more sickening is that their following buys it.

I especially hate people that overestimate themselves. Oh yeah, you can understand kana and basic kanji, you’ve obviously mastered the japanese language! Give me a break. Basic kanji isn’t going to get you to pass even level 4 of the JLPT. Cram studying for a few months isn’t going to get you up to 1,000 kanji and 6,000 vocabulary to pass level 2. Stop lying to yourself if you think you can.

I hate it when people let “popularity” get to their heads. Especially if they start throwing fits if something they do doesn’t have a favourable outcome for them. The fact that they sound so overly fake doesn’t help. Being nice to everyone just so that they’ll like you is nothing more than stroking your own ego. If you hate someone, say it! If you hate something, say it! Who cares what people think? Blogging was meant to be an outlet to share your opinions with others, not to suck up to others and try and become the most popular blogger. It’s not about being the best, it’s about being yourself.
